Keeping your car in tip-top condition

Keeping your car in tip-top condition

Buying a car whether it is brand spanking new or usesd car is exciting, but no matter what sort of method you use; buying on the lot, through the paper or online, you’ll still have to keep your car in A1 condition to get the best out of it. Polluted and dirty engine oil, transmission fluid, and anti-freeze are going to cause problems for your car, and if you have not thought about changing your brake fluid, then perhaps, it is time. Brake fluid delivers force to various parts of the brake when you step on the pedal, you know it has to be topped up, but how often does it have to be changed?

Brake safety is a subject that I have touched on before in an earlier article and I wonder how many times you think of changing the many fluids in your car. One of the paramount considerations that you must make as a responsible owner of a car, is the constant maintenance and servicing. Whether your car is old or new an expert to service and maintain your vehicle is necessary. Two sites that I have logged into online with many tips and hints are repcoservice.com and OzFreeOnline.com. If you want to know anything about your vehicle then these sites are particularly savvy about all models and makes of vehicle. You will be glad you did, because the information you will find will be invaluable.

According to specialist mechanics, brake fluid, in the everyday family cars, becomes contaminated in less than two years. Brake fluid absorbs moisture, which works its way through the hydraulic system. Under heavy braking conditions, such as when towing a trailer, driving in a very hilly or mountainous area, the moisture in the overheated fluid vaporizes (boiling point of water is lower than that of brake fluid) and braking efficiency is reduced.

Not only is the fluid vulnerable to vaporizing, it also can freeze. Even under normal automobile driving conditions, this situation can develop if the brake fluid is seriously contaminated. It is necessary for brake fluid to maintain a stable viscosity throughout its operating temperature range. Being too thick or too thin causes impaired braking action. Beyond the vaporization hazard, moisture creates an additional problem for owners of vehicles equipped with anti-lock braking (ABS) systems. Corroded ABS components are very expensive to replace.

Obviously, anything to do with your brakes is extremely important to your family’s safety. If you are still driving a motor vehicle that is over ten years of age, then it is even more important to be sure that your car is in perfect working order. Cars can last a very long time provided you, as the owner, have a thorough understanding of the maintenance of your type of vehicle. There is no excuse for ignorance and sites like racv.com.au, and OzFreeOnline.com have useful pages of information and news about the care of your car and any vehicle on the road today. When you are next ‘surfing the net’, do yourself a favour and log on, join up and browse all the pages of hints.

Maintaining proper brake fluid levels in your master cylinder reservoir is no exception. You should have your brake fluid checked every time you have your oil changed. During a brake inspection, your mechanic will check your brake fluid levels as well as make sure your shoes. or pads, drums, rotors, wheel bearings, anti-lock brakes (ABS) and emergency brake system are all in good, safe working order. How often does the brake fluid have to be changed? Good question - the recommended change is either every two years, or 24,000 kilometres.

Your professional brake technician should check the condition of the fluid with an accurate 'fluid test safety metre', which is inserted into the master cylinder reservoir to record the fluids boiling point. This should be included with brake pad or shoe replacement, and in between, as a preventive measure.

You may ask about the many other fluids, which, must be topped up, as well as changed, and you will find them as you read on. Oil changes are important. Your mechanic is an oil change and lube expert. There are synthetic oils available, to better protect your engine and enhance your car’s performance, not to mention synthetic oil is resistant to heat and viscosity breakdown. You can find information like this, and many other interesting facts when you log on to firstnlastchoice.yodelaustralia.com, where they do brakes, clutches and even air-conditioning. Another fantastic site I have browsed to find used cars for sale, auto classifieds and assistance with anything relating to cars is OzFreeOnline.com. You can even join the forum to find out more from other people on the same wave-length

Recommended oil changes to keep your car running at peak performance, is every 3 months or 3,000 kilometres. One of the most common mistakes you can make with your car is to let things slide when it comes to something as simple as an oil change. Properly scheduled oil changes will help your car last for many years.

New car loans, watch out.

New car loans, watch out!

There are lots of people who want to buy a new car but only some can pay cash. All the other people need to finance their new car. If you do not belong to the minority of people who pay cash, you should read this article to gain knowledge about how to get the best new car loan.

The interest rates that banks and finance companies offer vary, you can save hundreds of dollar by comparing different loan offers. Simply look for great deals online and get your loan preaproved. They will send you an offer that is locked for 30 days, sometimes even longer. Then you can compare all these final offers and choose the one that fits best. Do not only compare the interest rates but also the extra costs that comes with signing the loan.

There are several institutes that offer car loans but they are not all alike:
Car Dealers:
There are some big car dealers who are affiliated with banks or other finance institutes. You can sign a credit when you buy your new car, but be aware that those 2% interest deals are not actually much more expensive for you. Here is why: You will have to pay the list price of the car. If you pay cash you can get a discount of up to 10%, depending on the car dealer. So what you can do is, you get a loan from a different institute and pay the car dealer by cash while getting a discount. This way you will end up paying less than you would by signing the loan with your car dealer.

Banks / Finance companies:
You can find great loan offers online by comparing different banks and other finance companies. The rates differ a lot and you can save a lot of dollars by investing some of your time into researching the different auto loan offers. There are some finance companies that offer you a car loan even if you have a very bad credit score. With a little luck you can be approved for your auto loan withing a day or two.

Save money when you buy your new car.
Do not only compare different loan offers in order to find the best credit deal, but also compare several car dealers in order to find the best offer for the car you are planning to purchase. If you pay cash you can ask the car dealers for a discount. The car dealers will give you different discounts, so calculate which offer is the best one. What about the extras that car has, do you need them all? New cars are much less expensive if you buy them without all the extra stuff, that you do not need in most cases.

The more you payback monthly, the less you pay at all. If you choose a higher monthly payback rate with your loan, you will have a much shorter payback period and therefore a lower total expense. You can use an auto loan calculator to figure out the best payment plan for you.

Lemon Laws

Lemon Laws Don’t Protect Used Car Buyers

By: Charles Essmeier
[Word Count: 469 words] [Viewed: 181 time(s)]

Most buyers of new cars are probably familiar with lemon laws, which allow consumers a refund or replacement when their car turns out to be defective. These laws generally cover leased cars as well as purchased ones, and they have worked well as a consumer protection tool. Unfortunately, no such laws exist for used cars, and buyers should be careful when purchasing them.

Many car dealers offer “certified used cars” that come with some sort of warranty, but most independent used car dealers do not. In most states, the law permits used car dealers to sell cars “as is”, and in that case, anything that goes wrong, even if it happens five minutes after purchase, becomes the buyer’s problem. Dealers selling cars on an “as is” basis often aren’t even required to disclose any problems a vehicle might have to potential buyers. Most independent car dealers sell older, less expensive cars than those sold at major auto dealerships. A lot of the profits that independent used car dealers make come from financing, particularly from financing those with bad or poor credit. Those with problem credit often find that such dealerships, which self-finance, are their only chance at obtaining a car loan. These loans, with their resulting high payments, often leave buyers without any extra cash to pay for repairs of undisclosed problems. Legislators in several states are considering laws that will require used car dealers to have their cars inspected by certified mechanics prior to their being offered for sale. This will help, in time, but what can a potential buyer do now?

# Ask to have a certified mechanic examine the car before purchase. Any reasonable dealer should allow you to take the car to a mechanic; if not, you should probably shop elsewhere.

# Get a list of the car’s known problems in writing prior to purchase. Inquire as to whether you have any recourse should something go wrong after the sale.

# Ask the salesperson if the car has any sort of warranty, and if so, get it in writing. If they tell you the car is sold “as is”, ask them to define those terms exactly.

# Contact your local Better Business Bureau to see if they have had any complaints about that particular dealer.

# If possible, purchase a used car from a dealership that offers certified used cars with a written warranty.

Buying a used car is more problematic than buying a new one. After all, a used car is one that someone else didn’t want anymore. Buyers who are considering a purchase of a used car should be aware that their protection under the laws of most states is quite limited. Asking a few questions and doing some investigation prior to making the purchase may save buyers thousands of dollars down the road.

American Car

American Car Companies Have Been Lying To Us

By Tim Beachum [ 29/05/2007 ][ viewed 12 times ]

Untitled Document American Car Companies Have Been Lying To Us Written by Tim Beachum The next time you are sitting back watching a little television, I want you to pay attention to all of the car commercials. I’m talking about the ones that have the American flag waving in the background with all of its glory. And then theirs my favorite commercial – I’m talking about the one that makes you feel as if you are not a real American if you’re not Ford tough. Well if you are one of the millions of Americans who has your Ford proudly sitting outside in the driveway you may want to reconsider after reading this.I don’t want to mislead you so allow me to explain. I like many Americans was under the impression that Ford was an American made car. Well that may be true unless you are driving a Ford Fusion. The Ford Fusion is built in a factory in Hermosillo, Mexico. If you are a big fan of the Ford Motor Company, I do not want you to think that I am just picking on Ford, because there are plenty of other guilty parties. For example, Chrysler is another one that hasn’t been exactly forth coming with the facts. Only 35 percent of the parts used to build their PT Cruiser comes from the U.S. the rest of the PT Cruiser is built in Mexico. The headquarters of DaimlerChrysler is located in Germany.Did you know that General Motors owns part of Suzuki as well as a Korean automaker known as Daewoo. The Chevrolet Aveo is imported from South Korea, and only 4 percent of its parts come from the U.S.As I was sitting here writing this article a Ford commercial came on the television with the theme song “Born in the U.S.A.” playing in the background. I’m not against driving a foreign car, all that I am saying is I want to be told the truth. Further research on this matter revealed that by law, every new vehicle sold in the U.S. has to have a window sticker that states what percent of its parts are domestically produced. I’m not saying that – that’s not true. I am however saying that I do not recall ever seeing this information located on the window sticker.BMW, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, and Toyota all build cars in the U.S. combined, they produce more than a third as many vehicles in the U.S., they produce more than a third as many vehicles in the U.S. as do the Big Three. However many of the parts for those vehicles still come from overseas. Here is a list that is guaranteed to make you say, “WOW”.American cars that are built in Mexico
  • Buick Rendevous
  • Cadillac Escalade ESV & EXT
  • Chevrolet Avalanhe
  • Chevrolet HHR
  • Chevrolet Silverado
  • Chevrolet Suburban
  • Chrysler PT Cruiser
  • Dodge Ram
  • Ford F-Series
  • Ford Fusion
  • GMC Yukon
  • Lincoln MKZ
  • Mercury Milan.
I could go on, however I feel that my point should be solidified by now. I believe that ANY consumer has the right to know exactly what it is that he or she is purchasing. I understand that one could argue that you do not go to the grocery store and purchase a steak and ask the butcher where did the cow come from. I am however saying that if you are going to shove this patriotic sales pitch at us left and right that at the very least you should be honest about the entire thing. If you wish to be kept up to date on what’s going on in the automotive industry please visit www.articles.a1carinfo.com and sign up for our free Car Info report.Author bio Tim Beachum is an Internet Success Coach who has written hundreds of articles and several niche market ebooks, and reports. 1.Recycle: Recycling simply define as making good things out of nothing. There are some parts of a car that are functioning and you can sell those parts to your friends or other people. Make ways on how to find someone who wants to have that part. Sell it with a lower price or you can bid for it.
2.If you really love the car and it has a sentimental value for you, just change the parts that are malfunctioning, but it could spend you a lot of money to buy a new one. If the car is very important to you because of the value, whatever the price or how expensive it is, it doesn't matter, what important is you still have the car and its working.
